What is the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)?

The Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) is a guideline used to describe achievements of learners of foreign languages across Europe and, increasingly, in other countries. The six CEFR levels are becoming widely accepted as the European and global standards for grading an individual's language proficiency.

How could I know which level the learner is at?
  • By looking at the questions of the sample practice papers provided on the website, teachers should be able to assess whether a student can cope with the demands of a certain level of examination after a brief interview.
  • By doing the Placement Test available on our website.
  • By referencing the CEFR can-do statements.
