Listening

30 questions

Part 1: Listen to seven unfinished dialogues and choose the appropriate completion or continuation from the three-option multiple-choice responses.

Part 2: Listen to five conversations in everyday-life and/or work-related contexts and answer two three-option multiple-choice questions for each one.

Part 3: Listen to a monologue (e.g., presentation, introductory information talk, podcast etc.) on a subject related to general interests or work and fill in seven gaps in a notepad with no more than three words each time.

Part 4: Listen to a two-person discussion on a topical subject related to general interests or work and answer six three-option multiple-choice questions.

Each part is played twice.

Reading

30 questions

Part 1a: Read six sentences and choose the correct word from a choice of four to replace the highlighted word(s) in each sentence.

Part 1b: Read a short text with five words missing. Choose the correct word from a choice of three to complete each gap.

Part 2: Read a text from which six sentences have been removed. Match the correct sentences from a choice of seven to complete the text.

Part 3: Read four short texts on a common theme and answer seven questions to identify information from the texts.

Part 4: Read a longer text of general interest (e.g., narrative, descriptive, explanatory, biographical, etc.) and answer six three-option multiple-choice questions.

Writing

2 tasks

Varying word count

Part 1: 100 - 150 words (respond appropriately to a given text to produce a formal response for an intended public audience)

Task: Produce a neutral or formal & appropriate response for a specified reader based on a given text

Part 2: 150 - 200 words (Produce a piece of informal writing)

Task: Write an informal piece for a specific purpose and audience

Speaking

4 parts – conducted by an interlocutor

Part 1: Questions – give and spell name and give country of origin; answer up to five questions on different topic areas.

Part 2: Role play – respond to and initiate two role plays in everyday-life and/or work-related scenarios presented by the interlocutor.

Part 3: Read aloud – prepare for 20 seconds and read a short text aloud and answer follow-up questions.

Part 4: Presentation – after 30 seconds of preparation time, talk about a topic provided by the interlocutor for one to two minutes and answer follow-up questions.
