Dyslexia and Inclusive Practices in Language Certification

LanguageCert is a proud co-sponsor of the course Dyslexia and Inclusive Practices in Language Certification Preparation and Exams. The course has been designed by Joanna Paolinelli, and organised in collaboration with Orizzonte Scuola, Macmillan Education, Associazione Italiana Dislessia (AID), and is certified by SO.GE.S (Società del gruppo Orizzonte Scuola, accredited by the Ministry of Education in Italy (MIUR) pursuant to Directive 170/2016).
The course includes elements from LanguageCert International ESOL exams and is available to all learners including those with dyslexia. It aims to bring out children’s strengths and ensures social and educational benefits are maximised for all.
This unique course strives to support students' learning and wellbeing so they can fulfil their potential and feel included, empowered and engaged – all the while improving the quality of educational outcomes for all, including those with dyslexia.
It addresses the challenges that students with dyslexia experience and suggests strategies to reduce visual stress and to improve memory, writing and reading. It explains what inclusive tools exist to prepare for English language certifications and how to create an inclusive learning environment.
At the end of the course a nationally (MIUR) and internationally recognised certification that increases employability can be purchased (as per Ministerial Directive 170/2016) along with the course slides.
About the trainer and sponsors:
Joanna Paolinelli is the Director of Economic Development and Innovations at the British School Pisa Group and the academic coordinator of AISLi. She is particularly interested in using her experience, technology and new ideas to ensure that learning and teaching English is accessible to all. Her teaching combines digital technology and innovative methodologies to make the classroom a place where everyone can learn. Joanna is also a licensed tutor of AID and a teacher trainer and speaker on inclusive education.

AID is a non-profit organisation dealing with Learning Disabilities. AID was founded in 1996 in Bologna. AID currently is the main association in Italy on dyslexia and other learning disabilities, with more than 80 local branches all over the country, managed by volunteers, and a total of 18.000 members (parents of dyslexic children, adults with learning disabilities, psychologists, teachers).1
