LANGUAGECERT Academic now accepted across all programme levels for international students in New Zealand
LanguageCert, 15 July 2025
We’re delighted to announce that the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) has officially recognised LANGUAGECERT Academic, the complete English test of academic English, for admission into all programmes for international students across New Zealand.
This recognition follows NZQA’s latest review of the Programme Approval, Recognition, and Accreditation Rules 2025, which take effect on 1 July 2025. The update confirms the inclusion of LANGUAGECERT Academic in the list of Internationally Recognised English Proficiency Outcomes for International Students.

This is a significant milestone for international students seeking to study in New Zealand with a trusted, globally recognised English qualification.
In addition to LANGUAGECERT International ESOL, the well-established qualifications accepted at CEFR levels B1 to C2, remain recognised for study in New Zealand.
In line with NZQA’s policy updates, both tests must now be taken in person at a LANGUAGECERT-approved test centre.
With qualifications recognised by over 2,500 institutions in more than 100 countries, and test centres available in 200+ locations worldwide, LANGUAGECERT continues to provide accessible, high-quality English language testing for learners and institutions globally.
Whether you’re a student, education provider, or agent, this update represents another step forward in opening global access to New Zealand’s tertiary education.
