LanguageCert has been providing SELT exams internationally since December 2019 and has conducted approximately 20,000 tests among a wide variety of individuals across the globe.

We recently asked individuals living in the UK who had successfully passed a SELT exam for their feedback regarding the preparation material that LanguageCert had made available in advance of their exams.

LanguageCert’s preparation material enables candidates to gain valuable information about their exam, how they can prepare for it, receive helpful advice about what to expect on exam day, and other information. Our survey participants responded very positively to the material provided – in fact, 90% of participants surveyed stated that they were satisfied with the overall process, and 80% found that the preparation material helped them achieve exam success.

Among a range of insightful tips and guidelines, the preparation material includes several accessible videos (uploaded to LanguageCert’s YouTube channel) and sample papers. The support material is as clear and concise as possible, enabling candidates to find the information they require at any time.

Candidates also receive further information about taking the short, spoken interview with an online interlocutor that forms the basis of the Spoken component of the SELT exam. Our survey participants mentioned finding this particularly helpful since the SELT exam might be some individuals’ first experience of an online exam.

The participants in our survey suggested that any individuals taking a SELT exam should take a few steps to get ready with the help of LanguageCert’s preparation material. They recommend that candidates familiarise themselves with the exam format and go through the sample papers carefully. LanguageCert’s many available support videos also provide a wealth of helpful information.
