LANGUAGECERT Test of English (LTE) A1-B1 Listening & Reading
An English Listening & Reading test aligned to the A1-B1 levels of the CEFR*, ideal for entry-level candidates. Exams are delivered through our global network of Test Centres.
About the exam:
All candidates take the same test regardless of language proficiency and receive a certificate placing them at levels A1 to B1 of the CEFR based on their performance
The exam assesses Listening and Reading skills, as well as command of English grammar and vocabulary
The format uses multiple choice structure
Delivery and exam formats:
Listening section:
Paper-based
Duration of approximately 30 minutes
4 parts containing 32 questions in total
Reading section:
Paper-based
Duration of 40 minutes
4 parts containing 40 questions in total
*Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR), developed by the Council of Europe, is widely used to describe levels of language proficiency.

Results, certificates and digital badges
Certificate of Achievement & e-certificate are available in 2 business days
Results are sent by email directly to candidates or to their Test Centre.
Digital badges are available on the same day as results and sent by email.
Hard-copy certificates are sent either to the candidate or to the Test Centre shortly after results are released.
Breakdown of levels
LTE A1 – CEFR A1
Can recognise familiar words, everyday expressions and very basic phrases when people speak slowly and clearly.
Can understand familiar names, words and very simple sentences on familiar topics and obtain information from notices, posters and catalogues.
LTE A2 – CEFR A2
Can understand phrases and the highest frequency vocabulary related to areas of most immediate personal relevance such as basic personal and family information, shopping, local area and employment.
Can catch the main point in short, clear, simple messages and announcements.
Can read and understand very short, simple texts such as personal letters.
Can find specific, predictable information in simple everyday material such as advertisements, prospectuses, menus and timetables.
LTE B1 – CEFR B1
Can understand the main points of clear standard speech on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc.
Can understand the main point of many radio or TV programmes on current affairs or topics of personal or professional interest when the delivery is relatively slow and clear.
Can understand texts that consist mainly of high frequency every day or job-related language.
Can understand the description of events, feelings and wishes in personal letters.
