The Written and Spoken exam components for each level can be taken together on the same day or independently, leading to two separate certificates. The total assessment time covering all four skills is approximately 3 hours (depending on the exam level). The Speaking test is a 1:1 interactive session delivered by a trained interlocutor from your team who records the exam on the LANGUAGECERT Interlocutor app for marking by LANGUAGECERT examiners. The use of interlocutors for face-to-face exams provides a much more authentic and realistic approach to speaking skills assessment.

Written exam

  • Grammar and vocabulary are integrated into Listening, Reading, and Writing sections and are not examined separately.
  • Pass mark: overall 50%. No thresholds or limitations per section.

Spoken exam

  • Each candidate is examined individually, so they can perform at their best.
  • The interview is recorded to guarantee impartiality and ensure remarking if required.
  • Pass mark: 50%.
