LanguageCert University of Salamanca

Universidad de Salamanca

Universidad de Salamanca is an academic point of reference for the teaching of Spanish as a foreign language worldwide. It was the first Spanish university to offer Spanish language and culture courses through its Spanish as a foreign Language programme in 1929 and academic and teaching work has continued uninterrupted since then. In 2018, the university celebrated eight hundred years since its foundation.

Universidad de Salamanca, through its Cursos Internacionales de la Universidad de Salamanca, currently engages in all fields related to Spanish as a foreign language. This includes teaching students and teachers and producing teaching and learning materials. It assesses language skills nationally and internationally, while partnering with organisations to promote the Spanish language. Cursos Internacionales de la Universidad de Salamanca also engages in award-winning work on Hispanic culture.

In 1997, the Universidad de Salamanca along with the University of Cambridge, Alliance Française and Goethe Institut, developed the multilingual BULATS tests (Business Language Testing Service), which since 2017, is being administered through PeopleCert’s online platform under the new name LanguageCert USAL esPro. PeopleCert is LanguageCert’s parent organisation.
