Who is the LanguageCert Academic test for?

The LanguageCert Academic test is for candidates seeking to study in tertiary education. Its content is tailored for academic study at undergraduate, postgraduate or professional level.
Which skills are tested?

LanguageCert Academic assesses Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking skills.

What is the test duration?

The test consists of 4 parts. The duration of the parts is the following: 

Listening: approx. 40 minutes
Reading: 50 minutes
Writing: 50 minutes
Speaking: 14 minutes

The total duration of the LanguageCert Academic test is about 154 minutes.
Are there any entry requirements?

There are no entry requirements to taking the LanguageCert Academic test.

Is the LanguageCert Academic test aligned to the CEFR?

The LanguageCert Academic test has been developed according to the CEFR descriptors of language competency for each CEFR level (A1-C2). For more detail, please refer to the LanguageCert Academic Test Qualification Handbook.
In which format is the LanguageCert Academic test delivered?

The LanguageCert Academic Test is widely accessible through 2 delivery modes: through the LanguageCert Secure Test Centre Network (150+ centres globally), Online with remote or live proctoring (coming soon).

Can I book my LanguageCert Academic test directly from LanguageCert?
Yes, you can book exams directly from the LanguageCert website.
Can I have a blank piece of paper to keep notes during my test?

You are allowed to have one blank piece of paper only during the online LanguageCert Academic Speaking exam. The proctor will request to check it to ensure that it is blank on both sides. It must be shredded in front of the online proctor once the exam is over. For computer-based Test Centre exams, the Test Centre manager will provide you with a Note Board (for the Speaking Exam only).
Do I take all parts of the LanguageCert Academic test on the same day?

Both parts (Listening-Reading-Writing and Speaking) of the LanguageCert Academic test can be taken at the same day (provided slots are available) or separately within 14 days of each other.
Who recognises my certificate?

LanguageCert is an Awarding Organisation recognised by Ofqual and Qualification Wales. To find out more about our international recognition per qualification, please click here.
How long are test results and certificates valid for?

LanguageCert test results and certificates do not have an expiry date. However, you should check with the institution/organisation you are applying to for any specific requirements. 
How can I prepare for my LanguageCert Academic test?

You are not required to complete any course to take the LanguageCert Academic test. If you feel confident about your English language level, you can sit for the exams straight away. It is, however, recommended that you undertake a short course that explains the different exam tasks. All our LanguageCert Approved Test Centres offer courses which prepare candidates for our exams. You should contact your nearest Test Centre ahead of your exam to enquire about the available courses.

How much do exams cost?
Prices per country are available on our website and candidates must book their exams (Test Centre or Online exams) through our website. 
How long does it take to receive my results and certificate?
Official results are issued in 5 business days (after your last exam). You will receive your hard copy certificate shortly after your results.
Will my certificate be sent directly to me?
Yes, all certificates are sent directly to the address indicated by the candidates when booking.
Will my results contain a detailed analysis of my performance?
Your Test Report displays feedback per skill (Listening, Reading, Writing, Speaking) and overall. You will not only be described as having, for example, ‘B2 ability’, but a more precise level of detail will be provided via scores on the LanguageCert Global Scale.
Can I fail the test?
No, the LanguageCert Academic test is not a ‘pass or fail’ test. Test results indicate your proficiency levels in Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking.
